Roadtrip 2015 Fall: Vancouver - Astoria - Bandon - Anderson - Paso Robles - Palm Desert - Morongo Valley - Sedona - Henderson - Lone Pine - Sacramento - Ashland - Newport - Astoria - Vancouver

Day 49 - Lone Pine to Sacramento

Doesn't look like much, but they pull an excellent espresso.

Clouds cast dapply light on the range that separates Lone Pine from Death Valley.

Fall has mostly fallen in the Owens Valley.

They tried really hard to keep this array far enough away that we wouldn't notice. Not working.

The Owens Valley towns all look like they just stepped out of the 1960's - maybe earlier.

The vehicle that every photographer aspires to own. Mountain Light Gallery features the photographic works of the much loved and sadly passed, Galen Rowell.

The Bishop Play 'n Repent.

The cottonwoods are battening the hatches for winter.

We weren't supposed to get snow today, but with several 7000 ft+ passes to cross, we are keeping everything crossed.

The fabulous Mono Lake.

Clouds are building - creating seriously gorgeous light on the land.

This isn't looking good. However, we encounter a few stray flakes, a touch of rain, and eventually drive back into the sunshine as we close in on Tahoe. Whew!

Approaching Sacramento, we are reminded of this summer's ferocious wildfires - they must be still burning somewhere nearby.

We are also reminded of big-city traffic - not something we look forward to back home.

First stop in Sac - Temple Coffee.

And then dinner at Ella. This is the dining room ceiling. Really.
